Work With A Lawyer
Every day I get calls from people who are “just looking for a little information,” and have “just a few questions that need answers.” I talk with them about their case and it's obvious they need a lawyer and I tell them so. They need time to think about it and we end the call.
They forego hiring a lawyer and try to go it alone.
They call back a few weeks or months later. If they're lucky, their case is a mess but is still salvageable. If they're not lucky, the case is concluded and there's nothing I can help with.
I ask these people why they decided to go it alone? The answer is: “I didn't think I could afford it.” By the time they make that second call, however, they say that they realized that, in fact, they could not afford NOT to have the help of an attorney.
